How to choose a jewelry store in the U.S.

Goldiew lists 4,629 jewelry stores across the United States, each with its own profile page and reviews from real customers. When you are buying jewelry, the store matters as much as the piece: selection is easy to see in a showcase, but service, honesty about materials and how the store behaves after the sale only show up in reviews. Stores cannot pay to improve their rating here, so what you read reflects actual purchases and visits. Use the map and filters above to browse stores near you, then open a few profiles and look for recent reviews that mention the kind of purchase you are planning, whether that is an engagement ring, a gold chain or a gift. For gold pieces, the live metal price on our gold price page gives you a feel for the raw material behind the tag.

Jewelry store, jeweler or jewelry buyer?

A jewelry store is where you buy finished pieces. If what you need is a repair, a resize, a custom design or an appraisal document, a jeweler is the craft side of the same world and often a different business. And if you are on the selling side, trying to turn jewelry back into money, a specialized jewelry buyer will treat that conversation far more seriously than a sales counter will.

Before you buy jewelry

  • Read the most recent reviews, and give extra weight to the ones that mention what happened after the sale.
  • Ask about the return, exchange and resizing policy before paying, and get it in writing for expensive pieces.
  • Check the karat stamp on gold pieces and ask for certificates on diamonds and gemstones.
  • Ask whether stones are natural, treated or lab-grown. A serious store answers precisely and without hesitation.
  • For a big purchase, compare a comparable piece at two stores. The difference often pays for the second visit.

Jewelry stores: common questions

What should a jewelry store disclose about a gold piece?

At minimum the karat, meaning the gold content, and ideally the weight of the piece. For items with stones, you should also hear whether the stones are natural, treated or lab-grown, and receive a certificate for significant diamonds. Vague answers on any of these points are a reason to slow down.

Why do similar pieces vary so much in price between stores?

The gold content sets a floor, but brand, craftsmanship, stone quality and the store's own margin build very different prices on top of it. That is why comparing a truly comparable piece, same karat, similar weight, similar stones, tells you more than comparing two price tags.

Is a store warranty worth paying attention to?

Yes. Policies on sizing, repairs, stone loss and returns differ a lot between stores, and they are part of what you are buying. Reviews that describe how a store honored, or dodged, its promises after a problem are some of the most useful reading on any profile.

How are the ratings on this page calculated?

Ratings are built from customer reviews published on each store's profile on Goldiew. We are a directory and review platform, we do not sell jewelry ourselves, and stores cannot pay to change their score.
