Free Gold Price Widget for Your Website
A small box for your website. It shows today’s gold price per gram, lets a visitor weigh a chain or a ring and see what the metal is worth, and shows your name, your note and your terms. Your visitor gets a number before calling you. Free. No account. No cookies. Set it up below and paste three lines of code, or email them to the person who runs your site.
Live preview
If you claim your Goldiew page, the box also gets a "Get a quote" button. Make your code from your Business Dashboard to see it here.
Your code (paste it where you want the box: a sidebar, your "sell your gold" page, your footer)
Free, no account needed. The price updates every morning. Keep the small credit line under the box: it is what keeps the widget free. If you claim your Goldiew page, you also get a "Get a quote" button and the numbers in your dashboard.
Why shops add it
People check the gold price on their phone before they walk in. If they see it on your site first, next to your own note and your own range, they arrive knowing the metal is one thing and your offer is another. Every number in the box says “metal value, not an offer”.
Who it is for
Let people weigh a chain at home, add “Final price depends on in-store testing”, and start the talk at the counter from a number you both saw.
Show the metal value per karat next to your own range, and get quote requests with the weight and karat already filled in.
Choose “price only”: no calculator, the jeweler note (“this is the metal only, we also value the stones, the maker and the condition in person”) and a “book an appointment” button, on your estate jewelry page.
What the box shows
- Today’s gold price per troy ounce and per gram, with the date.
- Your karat (10K, 14K, 18K, 22K or 24K) and what one gram of it is worth today.
- A calculator: weight in grams, pennyweights or troy ounces, karat, and the metal value of the piece.
- Your words: what you pay for gold if you want to show it (a range or one number, as a percentage of the metal value, turned into dollars next to each calculation; on your site only), a note right under the price and before any calculation, a Call button or your own button (book an appointment, get directions).
- Quote requests if you have claimed your Goldiew page: a “Get a quote for this” button. The visitor leaves a name and a phone or email, and you get the weight, the karat, the metal value and the page it came from, by email. You can rename or hide the button.
- Price only if you prefer: no calculator, just the price, your karat, your note and your button.
- Your shop name in the title, your site’s font, one accent color, light or dark. A silver version too (sterling, 90% coin silver, fine .999).
Three looks, same price
Light or dark, gold or silver: every box shows the same daily price. Your site cannot mess it up, and it cannot mess up your site.
How to put it on your site
- Set it up above: metal, karat, colors, your name and phone, what you pay if you want to show it, your note and your button.
- Copy the code and paste it where you want the box: a sidebar, your “sell your gold” page, your footer, an estate jewelry page. Someone else runs your site? Use the “Email this code” button: they get the three lines and the steps.
- Keep the credit line. The short line under the box (“Today’s gold price per gram by Goldiew”) is the price of the widget: no fee, no account. From your dashboard it links to your own Goldiew page.
Never touched your website before? Here is the whole thing
- Your website was made with a “site builder” (Wix, Squarespace, WordPress, Shopify, GoDaddy) or by someone for you. Either way, there is a place where you log in to change your site. If you do not have that login, the person who built your site has it. Send them the code with the button above; it is a five-minute job for them.
- Open the page where you want the box, for example your “Sell your gold” page. In the editor, look for a button that says Add, Embed, Code or HTML.
- Paste the three lines you copied from the generator above into that box. Save or Publish.
- Look at your page. You should see the gold price box with today’s date. That is it.
Where to paste it, builder by builder
WordPress
- Edit the page. Add a block. Search “Custom HTML”.
- Paste the code. Click Update.
- For a sidebar or footer: Appearance, Widgets, add a “Custom HTML” widget, paste there.
Wix
- In the editor, click Add (+), then Embed Code, then Embed HTML.
- Choose Code, paste the three lines, click Update.
- Stretch the box so the whole widget shows, then Publish.
Squarespace
- Edit the page. Add a block. Choose Code.
- Paste the code with the mode set to HTML. Save.
- Code blocks need a Business plan or higher.
Shopify
- Newer theme: Online Store, Themes, Customize, open the page, Add section, choose Custom Liquid, paste, save.
- Older theme (no Custom Liquid): Themes, Actions, Edit code, open the template of the page you chose, paste, save.
- If an agency built your theme: Actions, Duplicate, make the change on the copy, Preview, then Publish the copy.
GoDaddy, Weebly, Webflow, plain HTML
- GoDaddy Website Builder: add a section, choose “HTML”, paste. An older GoDaddy site with no HTML section: send the code to whoever built it, or to GoDaddy support.
- Weebly: drag the “Embed Code” element, paste. Webflow: add an Embed element, paste.
- Plain HTML: paste the three lines anywhere in the page body.
Questions shops ask us
Does it match my website's font and colors?
Yes. It uses the same font as your website. You pick one accent color (gold by default), a light or a dark box, and you add your shop name and phone. The rest is locked: your site cannot break the box, and the box cannot break your site. For your web person: it is a Shadow DOM element, not an iframe, so it sits in the page like your other content.
Where does the price come from, and how often does it change?
It is the gold spot price, the world market price you see on Kitco or on a TV ticker, read once a day a little after 1 am Central time, seven days a week. On Saturday and Sunday the market is closed, so the box shows Friday's last price. It is the same price Goldiew shows on its own price pages. Good for scrap and jewelry talks. Not good for a live coin and bar board: if you have one of those, keep it, and put this box on your "sell your gold" page instead.
What does the credit line say, and where does it link?
You see the exact text in the generator before you copy anything. From this page it says "Today's gold price per gram by Goldiew" and links to the Goldiew page about that karat. From your Business Dashboard it says "by {your shop name} on Goldiew" and links to your own Goldiew page. It never says "sell your gold" and never links to a list of other shops.
What is the "what buyers pay near you" line in the box?
A small link at the bottom of the box to the Goldiew page about that karat: what one gram is worth today, and what pawn shops, jewelers and coin dealers typically pay for it, as ranges. That page shows no shop names. On this public page the line is on unless you turn it off; from your Business Dashboard it is off unless you turn it on ("Link in the box"). The credit line under the box stays either way.
Is the generator in my dashboard different from this one?
Same choices, plus three things that need your claimed Goldiew page: the "Get a quote" button, the credit line pointing to your own page, and your counts (page views, calculator uses, quote requests). Each store has its own page and its own business account, so its own code and its own counts.
Do I have to show what I pay for gold?
No. You can show nothing, a range (for example 70 to 85% of metal value), or one number (for example 80%). It is always a percentage of the metal value, never a dollar figure per gram. If you show it, the box turns it into dollars next to each calculation: "Smith Pawn pays about 70% to 85% of metal value: $288 to $350". You can also add a short line like "Final price depends on in-store testing. Bring it in." Whatever you choose shows on your website only. Goldiew never publishes it.
Can I get the visitor's phone number or email?
Yes, if you have claimed your Goldiew page. A "Get a quote for this" button opens a small form: name, phone or email. You get an email with the weight, the karat, the metal value the visitor saw, and the page of your site it was sent from. Hit Reply and your answer goes straight to the customer. You can rename the button ("Ask us about this piece") or hide it. No app, no login for the visitor.
Can I call or text the people who send a request?
Yes. Under the form, the visitor reads: "By sending, you agree that {your shop} may call, text or email you about this request. Your details go to the shop only." They agree to that when they press Send.
Who else sees those quote requests? What does Goldiew do with them?
Nobody else. Goldiew keeps them so your dashboard can show them, that is all. They are never sent to other buyers, never used for the Goldiew marketplace, never sold. We delete them after 12 months.
Will I get spam from the form?
Very little. A hidden trap catches robots, one connection cannot send more than five requests an hour (we keep its internet address, scrambled, for one hour for that, then forget it), and a request is only sent if it has a phone or an email. Nothing checks that a phone number is real, so like any form, a junk one can slip through now and then.
Can my ads person count a quote request as a conversion?
Yes. Forward this answer to whoever runs your ads: when a visitor sends a request, the box pushes an event named goldiew_widget_quote to the page's dataLayer, with the metal, the karat and the metal value (you can see it fire in Google Tag Manager preview); the first use of the calculator pushes goldiew_widget_calc. These events stay inside your own page: nothing about them goes to Goldiew or to any ads tool unless your own tags pick them up. On a Shopify store without Tag Manager, ask your agency to read the same event from the theme.
Can I show the price only, without the calculator?
Yes. Choose "Price only" in the generator. The box then shows the price, your karat, your note and your button. Jewelers often use this one: the jeweler note, no calculator, and a "Book an appointment" button.
Will the spot price make me look like I pay too little?
People already check the spot price on their phone before they walk in. If they see it on your site first, next to your own note and your own range, they arrive knowing the metal is one thing and your offer is another. The box says "metal value, not an offer" under every number.
Will it slow my site down?
No. It is one small file (about 8 KB) that loads after your page, plus a tiny price file. No effect on your page speed.
Does it put cookies on my visitors or track them?
No cookies. Nothing is stored on your visitors' phones or computers. Here is exactly what leaves your page: one signal per visit that says "the box loaded on this website", and one that says "someone used the calculator". That is how your dashboard knows it works. No names, no addresses, no weights. What a visitor types stays in their browser unless they press the quote button: then, and only then, the request itself is sent to Goldiew so we can email it to you.
Can I remove the credit line?
Please keep it as it is. That small line is the price of the widget: no fee, no account, just one short line that says where the price comes from. From your dashboard it links to your own Goldiew page.
Does it work with my website builder?
Yes, with any of them. WordPress: a Custom HTML block. Wix: Add, Embed Code, Embed HTML. Squarespace: a Code block. Shopify: a Custom Liquid section (newer themes) or the theme code editor (older themes). GoDaddy Website Builder: a section of type HTML (an older GoDaddy site without that section: send the code to whoever built it, or to GoDaddy support). Weebly: the Embed Code element. If someone else built your site, use the "Email this code to the person who runs my website" button under the code: they get the three lines and the steps. The exact clicks are listed below.
What if Goldiew is late with the price, or the site is down?
Late price: the box keeps showing the last daily price with its date. Price file unreachable: the box shows one line, "Today's gold price is not available right now", with a link. Goldiew completely down: the box cannot load at all, so that spot on your page simply stays empty until we are back. Your page itself is never affected, because the box loads after your content.
What if my claim ends, or my email bounces?
The box keeps working on your site and the counts keep counting. If your claim is removed, the quote button stops taking requests: the visitor sees "This shop no longer takes requests here, please call them", so nothing piles up where you cannot see it. If your email bounces, the request is still listed in your dashboard; update the address in Account settings.
I have several locations. One widget each?
Yes. Each store has its own Goldiew page and its own business account (one account manages one page), so each one makes its own code from its own dashboard and gets its own numbers.
Can I put two boxes on the same page, or show silver only?
Yes. Gold and silver side by side, a dark one in the footer and a light one on your "sell your gold" page, as many as you want. Silver can highlight sterling .925, 90% coin silver or fine .999.
Does it show my competitors?
No. The box shows the price, your karat, the calculator, your name, your note and your button. There are only two links: the credit line under the box, and an optional "what buyers pay near you" line to the Goldiew page about that karat, which shows ranges, not shop names. You can turn that line off in the generator.
Can I change the karat, the colors or the note later?
Yes. Make a new code in the generator and replace the old one. Nothing else changes.
Does it work on phones? Is it readable for everyone?
Yes. The box fits the space you give it, works on phones, and its fields are labeled for screen readers. You can also set a maximum width for a sidebar.
Will it cost money later?
No. The widget is free for everyone. The quote button and the numbers need a claimed Goldiew page, which is free too.
How do I know it works after I paste it?
Open the page where you pasted it: the box shows today's price with the date. Then open your Business Dashboard, Website Widget tab: within a few minutes the status line shows your website and one page load (the count is per website, not per page). If you see the code as text instead of a box, your site builder pasted it as plain text; use its HTML or Embed element. Still "not on your website yet" after an hour? Email [email protected] with the address of the page, we look at it the same business day.
Where do I see the quote requests, and can I change the email they go to?
Each request is emailed to the address on your Goldiew claim. It is also listed in the Website Widget tab of your dashboard (date, item, metal value, name, phone, email, and the page of your site it was sent from), so nothing is lost if an email lands in spam. From the same tab you can download the whole list as a CSV file that opens in Excel. To change the address, open the Account settings tab and update your business email.
Do I need to paste the code again when something changes?
No. The price updates by itself, and improvements reach your site by themselves. The three lines of code never change. Only your own settings (karat, note, range, button) need a new code.
Will it hurt my Google ranking?
No. It is one small file, like a map or a chat box, loaded after your content. The only links it adds are the credit line and, if you keep it, the "what buyers pay near you" line inside the box. Both point to Goldiew, a site about the same subject as your page, which is normal for Google.
Can people weigh in pennyweights or ounces?
Yes. The calculator has grams, pennyweights (dwt) and troy ounces. Grams is the default because that is what home scales show.
Platinum? Other currencies?
Not yet. Gold and silver, in US dollars. If you need platinum or another currency, write to us.
Is it in Spanish?
English only for now. Your own note and your button can be in any language.
Can I get the requests by text message, or in my CRM?
By email only for now, plus the CSV download in your dashboard for your own records or your CRM. Hit Reply and your answer goes to the customer. Each request also fires the goldiew_widget_quote event on your own page (see the ads question above).
I do not run my website myself. What do I send to the person who does?
Under the code there is a button, "Email this code to the person who runs my website". It opens a ready-made email with the three lines of code and a link to the steps for every site builder. Send it, done. If you prefer, copy the code and paste it into your own email.
Does it switch to dark on its own?
No. You pick light or dark in the generator, so the box always matches the page it sits on.
My site is not on HTTPS. Does it still work?
Yes.
Anything legal I should know?
Every number in the box is labeled "metal value, not an offer", with the date of the price. Your range and your note are your own words: keep them accurate. Some states have rules on how gold buyers advertise prices; the "Final price depends on in-store testing" line covers the usual case, but ask your own advisor if you have a doubt. If your site has a privacy policy, you can add one line: quote requests sent through the gold price widget go to your shop by email.
Who do I ask if something does not work?
Reply to any Goldiew email, or write to [email protected] with your website address and a screenshot. You get an answer, usually the same business day.
How do I remove it?
Delete the three lines of code from your page. That is all.
